Tok Sen & Lanna Stretches
With Tevijjo Yogi
March 20th - 23rd, 2019
In this very special four day workshop we will study two traditional medicine skill sets that come from Lanna, the ancient culture of northern Thailand.
• Tok sen, the art of using a hammer and peg to create percussive therapy on the sen, is a wonderful bodywork technique with cross over into the spirit medicine root of Lanna medicine. To follow tradition one must be initiated by a teacher who has been taught give initiations. Teachers who still follow this tradition are quite hard to find these days, and the opportunity for initiation in the west is extremely rare. In this course students will receive traditional initiation, and will have the opportunity to purchase a set of handmade tok sen tools at cost.
• Lanna stretches are a specific set of traditional bodywork stretches that have precise focus and execution. These days we see many elaborate stretches being incorporated into Thai massage, with people coming up with new ones every day. These stretches can be wonderful, but in this course we go back to the roots of the stretching people so love, focusing only on the true traditional stretches.
In addition to tok sen and Lanna stretches, we will practice our daily wai khru ceremony, Buddhist meditation skills, and have time to listen to the extended teachings of Tevijjo Yogi.
Class is taught by Tevijjo Yogi, a practicing Thai and Buddhist medicine doctor. Tevijjo Yogi is one of the most knowledgable people in the world on the subject of traditional Thai and Lanna medicine and we are grateful and honored to have him.
