Dear Nephyr,

I have read your story about “where is the Theory?”
I think your story is true.
We need a western theory. Not because we don’t respect the traditional Thai theory, but because we cannot work with that traditional one that has been out of date for the really interested practitioners. For those who work in wellness or for fun the actual theories may stay. Some feel spiritual that way.
I feel well for the tradition, rites a Thai culture as well for Buddhism.
Just because of that have we the obligation to give effort for understanding the mind body relationship.
We need to do so, because we cannot expect that traditional Thai master will do something as you wrote in your blog.
I am looking for people with a basis medical background worldwide, with knowledge of the psychology and the human body that can help to put ideas forward about the way we could interpret the traditional practice.
You wrote about your teacher Teviijo Yogi. I found information about his on the internet and I am sure that he is also a person who could help although he is of course a extreme traditionalist. I would like to get in touch with this yogi for the same reason as I just wrote about. Does he have an e-mail address?

Hi Arnold,
thank you for your comments. I have been studying traditional thai medical theory for a handful of years now, and I find that it is indeed applicable in today's western world. I would not say that we need a "western theory" to work with Thai bodywork - really, it is my goal to help people to get the real Thai theory that actually goes with it as this is information that most find hard to get instruction on. Rather than replace the Thai theory with a western version, we should work harder to learn the Thai theory - because this is what is most beneficial to the work.
