Theravada Buddhism Classes

To register for all classes please click here

Theravada Buddhism forms the third branch of traditional Thai medicine. Traditionally, Theravada Buddhism never charges money for spiritual education, hence the only fees you will find with any of our Buddhist classes are actual cost of operation, any copyright or licensing fees, and such fees as those incurred with photocopying and shipping materials. All of our classes are non-dogmatic and welcome participants from any spiritual or religious path .

Introduction to Theravada Buddhism

This weekend course will assist students in understanding the cultural and spiritual roots of Thai medicine by being introduced to Buddhist philosophy, history, literature and practice. This course is open to anyone interested in Theravada Buddhism; you do not need to be a practitioner or student of Thai medicine to participate. This class is taught by Pierce Salguero, author of many books on traditional Thai medicine, including "Spiritual Healing of Traditional Thailand". It is offered in conjunction with Pierce's Advanced Thai Medical Theory Class, but may be taken on it's own.

Pre-requisite: none - Cost: donation only

Gently Guided Trip to Thailand

Journey with us to the "Land of Smiles" for two weeks of adventure culminating in participation in the beautiful Loy Krathong festival. We will stay in guesthouses, journey by plane, train and boat as we visit bustling cities, temples, mountain villages and sandy beaches. The tone of the journey is set by the participants. Focus can be on anything from Thai cooking to Buddhist meditation to relaxation and play - or a mixture of it all. Your guides will be Goi, a native of Thailand, and Nephyr, director of The Naga Center. Our group will be kept small in order to allow for spontaneity Details of this trip are still in the planning stage but it's tentative dates are November 1st - 15th. Price to be set soon as details are worked out. To be kept up to date, sign up for our newsletter or e-mail us.
