About Thai Massage

Thai massage is performed with the client fully clothed, on a mat on the floor. A classic Thai massage combines acupressure, compression massage, and yogic stretching. Some people have described it as “passive yoga”, or “having someone do yoga to you”, but Thai massage is about much more than stretching. Spot specific therapy sessions for those wishing to focus in on treating pain will employ a variety of methods. Traditionally, most Thai massages take a minimum of one and one half hours and can last up to three hours or more. We recommend a two hour session for optimal benefits.

Nephyr Jacobsen, Founder and Director of The Naga Center is no longer offering massage sessions to the general public. She does offer limited sessions to Naga Center students and those planning on taking classes at The Naga Center as a means of experiencing the work they are learning. Massage sessions with Nephyr must be booked in advance. Please wear loose comfortable clothing with underwear, and do not wear skirts or shorts. If you have any special conditions such as acute injury or pregnancy, please inform us at the time of booking. A Note about Session Times with Nephyr

Times noted for massage sessions are approximate. For example, a two hour massage session may take two hours and fifteen minutes, or may take one hour and forty five minutes. Times are affected by such circumstances as intake time requirements, client needs, and the pacing an individual massage takes on.

At times Nephyr offers Thai massage sessions when she travels out of town. Thai massages outside of Portland are offered for $150 for a two hour session. Thai massage students wishing to book a massage during an out of town workshop are offered sessions at Portland rates.
